5 Gender Equality

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

Published: 17.Mar.2022

Women are underrepresented in the sport of triathlon as a whole, but even more so in extreme tri.

Year over year, the percentage of women applying is 8%. The good news is that the numbers are increasing, even if the portion of the total applicants is not. In 2010 56 women applied. In 2019  we were up to 425.

We are not satisfied with this. This is why we, in our draw, have a quota for a minimum of 15% women. When athletes qualify through our member races, it is 50/50. This means that we would typically have around 20% on race day. Still, we are committed to increasing our sport’s interest amongst women and continually striving for an equal gender representation in our race.
