13 Climate Action

It is approximately 440 tonnes of Co2. This is the amount of carbon dioxide emitted into the environment in the course of the 2019 race, the last race unaffected by the covid pandemic. We measure the footprint of one athlete plus one support-person from they leave home until they return.

This is our challenge. To reduce this number as significantly as possible for future episodes of the race. We are working on a number of plans to realise this reduction. The emissions from international air travel is the biggest challenge we face, but we are working with all aspects of our race to reduce the print we leave. And just for the record, as much as we want to solve this immediately, we know this will take time. But please, stay tuned here. Posts will follow below as we find big (and small) answers to the problem.
