The ninth edition of the Norseman Extreme Triathlon started at 05h00 this morning and is now well under way. The head of the pack, consisting of Tom Remman and Tim DeBoom has just started on the marathon.
Due to extremely cold water, the start of the swim had to be moved to Ringøy. Conditions were good and stable for approx. the first 150 athletes. However, a sudden change in weather conditions and extremely strong wind causing big waves made it very difficult to manoeuvre for the remaining athletes. Under these circumstances and for safety reasons, the race direction found it necessary to shorten the swim. After the expiration of an extended cut-off time, 26 athletes unfortunately did not finish the swim leg.
08/06/2011 The winner of this year’s Norseman is the two time world Ironman champion Tim DeBoom from the USA, with a time of 11.18.52.Results for Norseman 2011
